Happy New Year and Thank You!
After another year of winning, Jake (and Dad Simon!) wanted to wish everyone a heartfelt ‘Thank You’ and equally as importantly ‘Happy New Year’.
Jake has again kept winning – four wins in the hugely competitive G50 class of the Michelin Ginetta GT Supercup – plus three pole positions, four fastest Laps – taking his career total to 17 wins, 18 pole positions, 18 fastest Laps and an incredible 36 podium finishes in his 36 races from November 2008 to October 2011.
“I can’t begin to thank everyone for all their help in getting me racing this year. The teams – Optimum and Tollbar – every sponsor, every friend, everyone who has believed in me. It’s been a tough year, but I’ve loved racing the G50 and I think I’ve learned a lot and matured an awful lot personally and as a driver. Roll on 2012!”
Jake’s plans for 2012 are to continue in the Michelin GT Ginetta GT Supercup but to move up to the super-fast G55 category – the premium class in the series – and with it the chance to challenge for overall race wins and the overall championship.
“We’re working flat-out to raise the budget. I’m confident we’ll get it sorted in time to put together a decent test programme so will be on the pace from the first race at my home circuit at Brands Hatch in April. I came really close to winning the championship in Ginetta Juniors in 2010, had a lot of good results but some bad ones too – some my fault, some not – so am determined to win in 2012”.
Jake will be at Autosport International from the 12th – 15th January at the NEC in Birmingham and hopefully will be in a position to formally announce his 2012 plans.
But for now, all that remains is to again wish everyone a safe and successful 2012, and to say a massive, massive ‘Thanks’ for all your help and support in 2011.
